Nevada Change for Children Organizations
Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation
Their mission is to enhance the quality of life for children with cancer and their families by providing financial assistance and compassionate support programs while advocating for increased research funds and raising public awareness.
Their vision is to passionately enrich the lives of children and their families who are diagnosed with cancer in the northern Nevada region. We will do this by tirelessly striving to ease the heavy financial and emotional burden that these families face. We will educate our community so that, together, we can dedicate more resources to put toward this ugly fight. We will fund innovative research so that our children receive the best possible treatment, one day there will be a cure.
Key programs:
Family Assistance Fund - Provides financial support during the child’s treatment and follow-up care. Funds help with items such as medical expenses, household expenses and travel expenses related to treatment.
Hope for the Holidays - Gives relief to parents as they know there will be gifts under the tree during the holiday season. Sponsors throughout the community (businesses, schools, families and friends) provide gifts and meals for local families who otherwise may have gone without.
E-SMART - Offers age-appropriate educational support - such as laptops, tablets, software and access to tutoring services - to children with cancer.
Inspire Scholarship Program - Provides scholarships to young adults as they receive cancer treatment, survive cancer, pursue higher education and seek to return to a sense of normalcy in their lives.
Emotional Support - A childhood cancer diagnosis is a family diagnosis and can be devastating to patients, parents and siblings. NNCCF provides access to therapeutic and grief counseling, family outings and personalized “No More Chemo” bell ringing celebrations.
Women and Children's Center of the Sierra
Their mission is to help women escape poverty in order to provide a better life for themselves and their families.
Their vision is that every person who comes to our office is treated with respect and leaves at least a little better off than when they arrived. We err on the side of compassion. We work to empower women to avoid or overcome barriers impeding their progress as they struggle to leave poverty behind. Each woman defines what she wants her life to look like.
